Introduction
Marque, a 48 year-old singer/musician, wanted to re-claim the rock star look he had when he was younger. Extreme Makeover brought Marque to NHI and Dr. Rassman to restore this youthful hairline and help him match the image inside his head to a reality on his head. Marque's hair loss wasn't advanced; however, his corners had receded significantly. Optimistic that this procedure would help him get beyond the tired rock star look, Marque and Extreme Makeover were excited to see his results.
Marque's transformation began on September 13th, 2004 at our Los Angeles office and is featured on their October 28th show. Dr. Rassman helped Marque with his hair, but was aided by Plastic Surgeons, Dermatologists, Cosmetic Dentists, and Personal Trainers. Marque's physical results are obvious but his hair transplants will take some time to grow. Already, he has seen some promising early growth.
Initial Consultation (August 16, 2004)
Marque met with Dr. Rassman to discuss moving his hairline a bit forward, adding a stronger forelock, and filling in his corners. Marque was shocked to hear that he would be awake during the whole procedure and be able to read magazines, watch movies, and chat with the staff and Dr. Rassman. After discussing the benefits and few but potential downside of any medical procedure, Marque was happy to go forward and excited to continue his transformation.
Procedure (September 13, 2004)
Marque was not FOX™ positive so Dr. Rassman decided to perform Follicular Unit Transplantation in the traditional strip method. With 2,235 grafts densely packed in his new hairline, Marque looked at himself in the mirror immediately after surgery and couldn't believe what he saw already. His only complaint was that he didn't have his guitar in hand to keep the staff going during the procedure. Since, he has had the opportunity to play for Dr. Rassman and the world with his new look.
