I am a 30 year old male and I have been taking Propecia for about 11 months now. I have not seemed to maintain or grow any hair in the front and back of the head. My father and uncle are a NW 6/7, my brother is current a nw 6/7 and he is 34 years old. My mother’s father was balding but never went completely bald. I know this is difficult without an examination, but I have had to change my hair styles twice in the past year to provide for more coverage. In some prevois posts you had mentioned giving Propecia up to 18 months. Do you feel that I should continue for another 6 months? Do you think that adding Minox would add any benifit? Any comments/thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
I believe that Propecia always has some benefit. In some people, however, the only benefit may be in slowing down the hair loss process. There is no easy way for you to be sure that this is working, but I am convinced that in young men this always happens. Sometimes you have to take it on faith just because the consequences for not doing so may be faster hair loss. Without stopping the medication you will never know, but stopping it is a bad way to find out if you can not recover what you lost when you stopped it. Maybe hair transplants are a reasonable option for you.
I have one of the most extensive hair restoration websites in the world at NewHair.com, and if you look at the patient photo galleries, you will find hundreds of patients with before and after photos, some of which may have “before” photos that look like your hair loss.
